Dr APJ Abdul KalamThe words and thoughts of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, honourably named as the Missile Man of In-dia, still remain an inspiration. Arguably AMONG the most ideal IndianS of this country, hislife continues to inspire the dreams and visions of many.Since Mahatma Gandhi, no one captivated the hearts of India's youth like Dr. Kalam did.On this day, five years ago, he breathed his last while doing the thing he loved most--addressingthe students and inspiring them through visions. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest as he wasdelivering a lecture at 11M Shillong and passed away a little later.Dr. Kalam wore many hats—he was a GREAT TEACHER, ONE OF INDIA'S MOST DISTIN-WISHED scientists, a prolific -„xiter, a GREAT HSIONARY WHO CREATED A BLUE PRINTFOR INDIA'S 21 sr CENTURY DEVELOPMENT and also a philanthropist. Seen as a man of hon-our, besides being one of the great scientific minds of our time, he was sinlply phenomenal.He was the most unconventional President that India had ever had. He was the People's Presi-dent. He was a relentless leader who created a benchmark for others through his OFTHOUGHTS, SPECIFICITY OF deeds SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS. He was still a childat 83, with his innocence and curiosity and his unending fascination for life. It has been five yearssince Dr. Kalam left the mortal world, but he continues to live on m our memories with his words.Sir, you were, and you still are, an epitome of inspiration to many people.Dear students, as we pay tribute to THE MOST respected Former President, in whose name ourUniversity is named after, we sincerely hope that his LIFE, CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE ANDTECHNOLOGY, inspirational thoughts and motivating anecdotes serve as a guiding light in theseCHALLENGING times.
