Thiruvanathapuram, May 07: APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University is delighted to announce that two students belonging to the Government College of Engineering in Kannur, an affiliated college under the university, have bagged the first prize of $10,000 at the recently concluded CODE19 online hackathon. The winners-- Abhinand C and Shilpa Rajeev—have developed a virtual classroom that enabled a social media-type interface to conduct live classrooms and group interactions. It also makes subject-wise digital content of different streams available for participants. Abhinand and Shilpa said they took inspiration from their own experience during the lockdown days to build the platform. Abhinand had earlier bagged third prize in a hackathon orgnaised organised by Siemens. The hackathon was hosted by California-based Motwani Jadeja Family Foundation to develop open-source solutions for India in its fight against coronavirus pandemic.
