
Flood Rehabilitation: Grace Marks

As per the Government decision to involve the Students of the Engineering Institutions of the
State in various rehabilitation activities of the flood affected areas, the Principal Secretary Higher
Education Department has directed the University to formulate a policy for awarding motivational
incentives. Accordingly, the University has formulated a proposal and placed it before the Syndicate
for consideration. The Syndicate has approved the proposal of awarding Grace Marks to the eligible
students of the affiliated institutions of the University who are actively involving in various
rehabilitation activities of flood affected areas by treating this as participating in state level
community outreach activities representing the University. It was decided to award the grace marks
to all eligible students admitted during the AY 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 subject to the
following guidelines.
1. Only bona-fide, regular candidates are eligible for the award of Grace Marks.
2. The Marks shall be awarded for the end semester examinations conducted by the University.
3. The Marks that can be awarded to the candidate is 25% of the marks scored by the candidate
in each course.
4. The maximum marks that can be awarded to a student for a course for all activities put
together shall not exceed 10% of the maximum marks prescribed for the course.
5. Transfer of marks from one paper to another shall not be permitted. Fractions of marks if any,
while computing shall be discarded.
6. Transfer of Marks from one semester to another semester shall not be permitted.
7. The Marks shall be awarded for all theory papers/courses/subjects for which the University
conducts End Semester Examination.
8. The Grace Marks shall not be awarded to a student for Practical/ Lab/ Viva Voce/ internal
assessment/ Seminar etc even though she/he fails for the same.
9. This Grace Marks shall be awarded for the regular and supplementary examinations to be
conducted during the end of current semester (August to December 2018). Grace Marks shall
not be awarded for subsequent examinations.
10. The request for Grace Marks shall be submitted to the Controller of Examinations through the
principal along with all relevant documents, within the time limit prescribed by the University.
The request for Grace Marks received after the time limit shall not be entertained on any
account.

R16.10 | Re- distribution shall be done only for enabling a candidate to obtain the minimum marks required for a pass |
R16.11 | Grace Marks shall not be re – distributed from one semester to another semester |
R16.12 | If the candidate does not secure the minimum marks required for a pass even after effecting re- distribution, eligible moderation fixed by the respective board if any, shall be awarded to that candidate in addition to the Grace Marks for a pass. |
R16.13 | Eligible Grace Marks shall be awarded for the regular examination of the performing semester only. Grace Marks shall not be awarded for supplementary examinations. |
R16.14 | The performing semester shall be considered from 1st July to 31st December (Odd semester) and 1st January to 30th June (Even Semester). |

17.Grace Marks to differently abled candidates |
R17.1 | Deaf and Dumb candidates with disability 40% or above or hearing impaired candidates with disability 70% or above are eligible for the award of Grace Marks on production of medical certificate issued by the Medical Board appointed by the Syndicate. |
R17.2 | The Grace Marks that can be awarded for differently abled candidates is 25% of the marks scored by the candidate in each course at the time of finalization of the results. |
R17.3 | Transfer of marks from one paper to another shall not be permitted. Fractions of marks if any, while computing the Grace Marks shall be discarded. |
R17.4 | Differently abled candidates who are eligible for Grace Marks shall be awarded Grace Marks for regular and supplementary chances until they pass the whole examination. |
R17.5 | Grace Marks shall be awarded only for the marks of the end semester examinations conducted by the University |

R17.7 | The request for Grace Marks shall be submitted to the Controller of Examinations through the principal along with all relevant documents, within the time limit prescribed by the University. The request for Grace Marks received after the time limit shall not be entertained on any account. |
R17.8 | The award of Grace Marks to other categories of differently abled candidates shall be based on the recommendations of the Medical Board appointed by the Syndicate. |
Physically Disabled :- Grace Marks

The Board of Governors in its meeting held on 24.11.2018 resolved to approve the decision of the
Syndicate to award grace marks to differently abled students with prospective effect. Accordingly, the
following guidelines are issued for awarding the grace marks.
1. Profoundly deaf candidates with disability 40% or above or hearing impaired candidates with
disability 70% or above are eligible for the award of Grace Mark.
2. The Grace Marks that can be awarded for differently abled candidates is 25% of the marks
scored by the candidate in each course at the time of finalization of the results.Transfer of
marks from one paper to another shall not be permitted. Fractions of marks if any, while
computing the Grace Marks shall be discarded.
3. Differently abled candidates who are eligible for Grace Marks shall be awarded Grace Marks
for regular and supplementary chances until they pass the whole examinations.Grace Marks
shall be awarded only for the marks of end semester examinations conducted by the
University.
4. Grace Marks shall be awarded for enabling differently abled candidates to obtain the
minimum marks required for a pass for Practical /Lab/Viva Voce/ Seminar for which the
University does not normally conduct End Semester Examinations. However the maximum
grace marks awarded in this case shall not be more than 25% of the marks scored by the
candidate in each course.
5. The request for Grace Marks shall be submitted to the Controller of Examinations through the
principal along with all relevant documents ,with in the time limit prescribed by the University.
6. Grace marks shall be awarded based on the learning disability certificate used by the CEE at
the time of allotment to the course.
7. The request for Grace Marks received after the time limit shall not be entertained on any
account.
